Acupressure For The Face

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

By Ricardo Silva In the last twenty years, alternative medicine from Asia has become popular. Acupressure for the face is a new approach that has come on the scene and is worth discussing. Acupressure For The Face Time takes a toll on our bodies, particularly our faces. There is just no hiding the damage of the sun, wrinkles and so on. Many people look to surgical lifts for a solution. Others, however, are nervous about the invasive nature of the surgery, possible side effects or the cost. A possible alternative for those not needing intensive repair is acupressure. The results that you will get from an acupressure session are not going to be as dramatic or long lasting as those from traditional surgical options. Acupressure procedures are meant to be a holistic, massage-oriented alternative to having surgery, but are not to be considered on the same level. Acupressure is an ancient Chinese art of applying pressure to specific points on your body. This is believed to allow more blood and energy flow to the area that is pressed, which can correspond to other areas of the body. The results of acupressure have been seen for centuries by those practicing this craft. Facial acupressure takes advantage of pressing these points on the face, and therefore allowing additional blood and oxygen to flow to these areas. This tightens the areas that are being massaged and pressed, leaving the client with a relaxed, youthful look. The facial area is massaged and stimulated with light pressure, which not only improves the facial circulation, but also helps to clean the facial lymph system. This technique also stimulates the underlying collagen of the face, which allows it to loosen and possibly regenerate faster, making the youthful look you get from the acupressure last. Having an acupressure facial is not considered a medical procedure, but it is a certified practice by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. It is considered to be more intensive than a traditional facial which is commonly performed by a cosmetician. Some massage therapists will recommend more than one acupressure session to achieve full results, and you will want to consult with your therapist for the best course of action for your face. Facial procedures are more and more common these days, but there are non-surgical options if you are not ready for the knife just yet. An acupressure session can give you a more youthful glow without surgery or any side effects. You also get the bonus of the relaxing technique of acupressure. It is a great compromise for those who need just a little help in the facial aging department. Ricardo de Silva is with PlasticSurgeonPractices.com - a directory of plastic surgeons. How To Make Your Web Site Work For You

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

By Dave Abernethy (or How to Increase Your Targeted Web Site Traffic and Sales…) You have a web site. Perhaps it was developed internally by you or by one of your own people. Or perhaps you employed a web design agency to produce it for you. You know you’re not happy with it but don’t know what to do about it. Sound familiar? Then you are one of many businesses, both large and small, who are disappointed with their web site. The reason is often a failure to understand what you should be trying to do with the site and (let’s be honest) probably a failure to invest the time and the effort needed to make the site successful. If your business web site is a marketing one - and most are - aimed at your UK or overseas markets, it should be an integrated part of your main marketing and operations. It should support your marketing and be supported by your marketing. In this article, I shall discuss some of the key things you need to do to identify and tackle your problems. 1. Set out your stall - what do you want to achieve? Easier said than done actually, but the more clearly you can set out your objectives - quantified if possible - then the easier it will be to decide what to do about it and also how much effort and money it is worthwhile investing in the process. 2. Identify the problems and opportunities You have to ask some key questions: - What is the site actually achieving? ( Do we know what it’s achieving? - Frequently the honest answer is ‘no’, so how can we find out what it’s achieving? ) - What do our customers, staff, potential visitors think about it? (Why not ask some?) - What are our competitors or similar businesses doing on their sites? Is our’s inferior - and can we use their ideas to improve our performance too? - Are there new ideas out there we should be adopting? Frequently things boil down to: - How many visitors is the site seeing and where are they coming from? - Is the site converting enough visitors to sales or enquires? Do you need to make your site ’sell’ more strongly? Statistics from the site operating logs should help to answer these questions and give some clues on where visitors are coming from and what they are looking at. Tip: If you think 1000 ‘hits’ in your site logs means you are receiving 1000 visitors, get some help to understand them better. 3. Sort out your web site marketing Your website itself is a ‘product’ and you should go through the key marketing steps on it again to make sure you still have a sound foundation: - Who are your target audience(s)? - What do you need to have on your site to attract them to it in the first place? Is it there? - Do you want them to come back again? What would attract them back? - What content or service do you need to provide on-line or off-line to back up your ‘promise’ to your visitors? - How should you promote your web site and contents to your target audience? The answers will depend on your product, type of business, target audience etc. However, there are some effective traditional and internet marketing approaches which you should consider. A full discussion would be beyond the scope - certainly the length -of this article but some core ideas include: - Try to make your site a magnet for your target audience. What would drive them to come to you in preference to your competitors? Information on your product or service field, advice on how to choose or use a product, specialist industry news or articles, games, good deals, support service? - Search engines: These can produce substantial business volumes for you - some surveys report as much as 80% of traffic to sites comes from search engines originally. Whilst having a budget helps, affordable search engine promotion is possible for most businesses. - Relationship marketing: Permission e-mail newsletters can inform your target audience about new product offers or initiatives and encourage repeat visits and sales. - Off-line marketing: Use your web site as an integral part of your traditional marketing and promotion. Tip: If internet marketing is not your skill area, get some help to sort things out. You’ll be glad you did. Capture Your Perfect Moment with a Wedding Website

Monday, October 29th, 2007

By Todd Mumford Not so many years ago, the proposition of a wedding website would be a thing of humor. For decades, wedding invitations created from custom stationary and mailed via snail mail has been the standard way of inviting guests to your ceremony and reception. However, with the advent of Internet, more and more people are moving with the growing trend of creating a personal wedding website. Some might think that a wedding website is an extra feature to add to your planning, but you will soon see why it is almost a requirement with regard to an all inclusive wedding plan. The biggest advantage to setting up a personal website is that one can display information for your guests and others to view well in advance of the actual event. With typical weddings, many guests come out of town and getting informational changes to them in a timely manner is crucial. Any and all changes to the actual format of the wedding can quickly be published on a website for all the expected quests to review. A direction map for guests that are unfamiliar with your area is also an added and appreciated feature. Setting up a website in advance of the wedding allows the guests to feel connected to the bride and groom, and allows them to feel like they are part of the planning. Also, the bride or groom can point out hotel accommodations and unique tourist features for out-of-town visitors to take advantage of when they are visiting. The possibilities of a complete website are virtually endless. There are a few options if one decides to embark on having a wedding website. You can hire a web designer to create a custom design for you and your fianc, complete with your choice of colors, styles and content. This person will usually supply a complete package along with the needed hosting for the website. Another option is going with an online website template, usually through a wedding website provider. These templates are pre-made, usually very easy and fast to set up, and only usually require that one fills out some forms online, and make payment. These companies can be found by searching for wedding website in any search engine. Look for a wedding template host that provides some of the newer features, such as an online planner and photo uploads. If you are opting to only provide photos of your wedding online without a full website, choose image hosting. These packages are a great alternative and are a smaller, cheaper way to allow you to post your beautiful pictures on the Internet for all to see for years to come. Losing Weight Naturally Is An Action and Not A Craze

Sunday, October 28th, 2007

By James Ellison You have read all that you wish to know about how to stop being overweight. Those easy set of directions should be simple to follow, but not for 36% of Americans who are not able to avoid being overweight. As might be expected, once we are overweight, we normally want to trim down for many reasons, some connected to health, others having to do with appearances. Furthermore, it’s never too late to lose weight. But the fact is, it is a whole lot simpler to avoid putting on pounds than to try losing them later on. And if there is anything we all know, it is that a weight increase is expected to happen if we do not take preventive steps to stop it. Health pros say that many people who are into losing weight usually digress. They have a tendency to go back to their previous eating habits even after they learn to savor low-fat eating. They tend to go back to inactive ways even though they enjoy workouts. But despite an impelling force toward weight gain, you can block it from happening, experts say. And there are a lot of good reasons to head off excess pounds, grounds that go beyond egotism or social toleration. In fact, some health pros argue that the implication of excess weight is more than aesthetic. They say that it demands a large toll on an individual’s physical health. The Means to Losing WeightNaturally The in and outs of eating correctly keeping a healthy weight is not all that complex. In fact, it is a good wager that many people know quite well what is best. Thus, losing weight the natural method should not be any trouble at all. Accordingly, a reasonable plan of attack for losing weight naturally is to adhere to a diet that is abundant in complex carbohydrates, high in fiber, medium in protein, and low in fat. A baked potato is a complex carbohydrate. Sour cream and butter is the fat that you shouldn’t put on it. Vegetables are the fiber. Oil is the fat you should not fry them in. A lean cut of meat is the protein. And the gravy is the fat you should not pour over it. Furthermore, health experts claim that dietary fat encourages weight gain because it is a very concentrated source of calories. Also, when you eat excess calories from dietary fat, you stash away those calories as body fat more in an efficient manner than extra calories from other sources. On the other hand, it can also assist you lose weight naturally if you will not drop into the so-called fat-free trap. Businesses keep producing low-fat or fat-free versions of their top selling foods, but Americans keep becoming fatter anyway. One of the biggest illusions of the 90s is that no fat implies non-fattening. But really, you are often obtaining just as many calories from the no-fat edition, even if the calories are not because of fat. The term fat-free can be a pitfall if you begin to think that you can eat any sum of the food that are promoted that way. Whats more, it is better to react to hunger with healthful snacks. Health experts claim it would be better to try eating every 3 to 4 hours, which may mean a wholesome low-fat snack between lunch and dinner. If you feel the impulse for food coming on, snacking on something good for you such as a slice of whole-grain toasted bread is a better option. Don’t miss a meal and eat snacks in lieu of because that is the worst thing you can do if you are attempting to control your eating customs and weight. Don’t forget, if you wish to lose weight naturally, you have to keep account of every food you eat and of every bodily function that you do. When you say natural weight loss it means that you do not have to utilize some add-ons or helpful aids just to lose weight. Losing weight naturally is a action and not a craze. Therefore, it would take plenty of stubborn determination, self-control, and discipline just to get your perfect weight. Conduct An Informational Interview

Saturday, October 27th, 2007

By Michelle Roebuck Informational interviews are designed to get as much information as you can about the industry and career you’re seeking a job in from people who are already in that career. Many job seekers dont conduct informational interviews because the purpose of this type of interview is NOT to ask for a job. But, when you talk with people in your area of interest, you establish rapport with them, get salary ranges for the position and hopefully, have your name passed along to the hiring manager when there is an opening in their company. Conducting an informational interview can be a very powerful job seeking tool for you. As you conduct these interviews, youre: Establishing several important contactslearning more about the industry you want to work for and getting your name out there before anyone else in case a job opens up. You can also take the information you gathered from these informational interviews and apply them to a regular one-on-one job interview. For example, youll be able to negotiate your salary better because you found out beforehand what the salary range was for the job youre seeking. The informational interview is almost like a hidden secret for job hunting success, since so few people use this technique. Get the advantage over other job seekers by adding this powerful tool to your job search. Planning a Destination Wedding

Friday, October 26th, 2007

By William Smith A destination wedding is one where you get married at a location different than where you or your families live. They are particularly popular for second marriages or with those couples that are a little older and don’t want a lavish affair. The most common destinations are beach locations, like Cancun, Hawaii, or the Caribbean. If you are considering getting married at an exotic location, here are some things to contemplate. 1. Consider what time of year to have your wedding. Hurricane season lasts from June through November, with the most active period from mid-August through October. The chances of a hurricane actually hitting during wedding aren’t that great, but if a major hurricane hits the location within a few months of your wedding, there could be significant damage, which could affect your ability to have your ceremony (not to mention the hardship for the people that actually live there). If the possibility that your wedding could be disrupted makes you nervous, consider an area less prone to hurricanes, like the Pacific side of Mexico or Hawaii. You should also carefully check the typical weather conditions (including the temperature and average rainfall) at the locations you are evaluating. In general, the northern Caribbean (e.g., Bahamas) can be a little cool in the winter, while other areas such as Cancun might be too hot in the middle of summer. 2. Evaluate your guest list. If you want to make sure some of your older relatives (grandparents, great Aunt, etc.) can be there, make sure they are able to travel conveniently to the location where you wish to have your wedding. If you live on the East Coast, you can get to the Caribbean fairly easily, but Cabo San Lucas or Maui would encompass a whole day’s travel. Keep in mind that many of your friends and quite a few relatives will not be able to make it, even though they would no doubt love to go. Finding the time to get off of work and paying for the trip will be a major expense for your guests. The more advanced notice you can give people, the more likely it is they will be able to come. 3. Have an itinerary or suggested list of activities for the days before and after your wedding. At a traditional local ceremony, the bridal party expects a rehearsal dinner the night before, and the wedding ceremony and reception, and that’s it. For a destination wedding, your guests will likely be there for several days, and you will want them to enjoy themselves while you attend to any last minute wedding details. Although they are there primarily to support you and witness your marriage, most will also want to squeeze in some vacation time after traveling a long distance. Coordinate with the local wedding planner for golf outings, snorkeling, trips to local sites, etc. Your guests will appreciate your efforts to make their time enjoyable. 4. Carefully check the legal rules. If you are getting married in another country, or even another state, make sure you double-check the laws regarding making your marriage legal. Most wedding planners or event locations will be familiar with the laws in their area, but it pays to double-check, just to make sure. You don’t want to return from your honeymoon, only to find out you aren’t legally married. 5. If you decide you’d rather have your ceremony locally after all, you can still have a “beach” themed wedding any time of the year. Incorporate the theme into your reception hall decorations by using sand, sea shells, island-style decor and bright colors like blue and green. Dress up the reception tables with some beach themed wedding favors such as floating flip flop candles or sea shell bottle openers and your guests will be transported directly to the sun and sand. Use exotic flowers like Birds of Paradise, and give your reception menu a tropical flair by offering selections like grilled chicken with pineapple salsa. You can always jet away to the warm sun and blue ocean on your honeymoon! How To Turn Your Slow Metabolism Into an Raging Inferno

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

By Eric Gelder Do you suffer from a slow metabolism? Having a slow metabolism is like having a roadblock on fat loss. Your body needs you to do something! There are a few ways you can boost your metabolism and we will cover two of the most important. First off, you have to realize you have the power to get that slow metabolism kicked up a few notches. If you are looking to lose weight, then a metabolism that moves at a snails pace is not going to help. There are two main things you can do to put some fire underneath that metabolism of yours. 1) Eat You read it right…Eat! A slow metabolism can and will increase the more you eat and the more frequently you eat. Now you can not sit down to a meal of french fries and hot dogs all day and expect to lose weight. But, with a healthy diet in place with moderate amounts of protein, you are on your way to a livelier metabolism. Spread those meals out over 5-7 smaller feedings throughout the day and you will feel your body firing up that internal furnace called your metabolism. You seeyour body will burn smaller meals similar to how a fire burns wood. Throwing a high calorie meal in your body is like throwing a big oak log on a small fire. It will simply smother the fire out. On the other hand, if you put several smaller meals in your body throughout the day, it is like putting kindling on a fire….you are providing a quick burning fuel for immediate heat! Small frequent meals keep your fire (metabolism) burning, whereas big logs (meals) smother out the fire and initiate little heat production. We are looking for maximum heat. By keeping meals small and frequent, you can turn up your heat production many times over. 2) Exercise. Exercise burns calories. No revelation there, but that is the name of the game. “More calories out vs. calories in.” That is the basic underlying principle, but there are many other factors that come into play. We will keep it simple for our purposes. Exercise, especially challenging interval type exercise, can help keep you burning calories all day long. You see, muscle is an active tissue. What this means is that it requires calories to keep it “alive”. Roughly 40-50 calories per pound of muscle is an estimate on how many calories your body requires per day to sustain it. That might not sound like much, but what if you added 5-10 lbs of lean muscle to your body? You would have the potential to burn an extra 200-500 calories per day. That is a lot of extra calories! Especially when that happens naturally from having higher muscle mass levels and no additional activity is required….bonus! The best way to build calorie burning muscle is with resistance exercise…a.k.a. weight training. You should make it a point to add resistance training to your overall exercise program. Resistance training will do more for your metabolism than any other exercise activity. By using moderate to heavy weights, you will have elevated your resting metabolic rate. It is estimated that your resting metabolic rate (RMR) is responsible for roughly 60-70% of your daily energy expenditure. Anything you can do to elevate your RMR will have the greatest net effect on your fat loss efforts. From an exercise standpoint, resistance training has the greatest impact. Cardiovascular exercise will also help elevate a slow metabolism. Your body will continue to burn additional calories, sometimes hours after you have finished your workout. The more intense (effort) your workout is, the longer your metabolism will continue burning calories at an accelerated rate. So put some effort into your cardio and weight training regimen and see what happens to your slow metabolism. You should begin to notice positive changes to your metabolic rate within a few weeks of applying proper nutrition and a resistance based exercise program. Incorporate some cardiovascular interval training to the mix when you are ready and the skies the limit. Make sure to eat a basic nutrient dense diet with sufficient amounts of protein through out the day. Frequency of eating will bring a slow metabolism back from the dead. Find Peace And Happiness Through Gardening

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

By Susan Jan Gardening is a wonderful and relaxing hobby enjoyed by many all over the world. People who enjoy gardening often feel a deep-rooted sense of calm and tranquility, and they also forge a stronger connection with nature. There are many types and forms of gardening. Organic gardening is a unique method of gardening and allows the gardener to really bond with Mother Nature. Organic gardening really gets down to the basics of growing fruits and vegetables, using only what Mother Nature provides. Container gardening is another way of gardening and allows many people who do not have their own garden to still enjoy gardening using pots and containers. Container gardening is a great way to decorate and accentuate your house and your outdoor area. Plant containers such as clay urns, metal pans, terra cotta pots, wine tubs, wood boxes, bath tubs, glass bowls, wire baskets, sisal rope planters, cement hollows etc. all work well. You want to be sure to have an assortment of beautiful flowers and plants of varying heights as well as shapes and textures when planning your garden. Organic gardening requires much more attention and involvement in the whole process. When you grow the plants organically, you do not add any artificial or chemical substances to the soil to avoid their negative health consequences. In organic gardening natural compost is needed to fertilize the soil. Natural compost is derived from plant, fruit or kitchen waste and contains no harmful chemical pesticides in it. Whether you go for container gardening or organic gardening, the preparation and gardening methods are pretty similar. After you decide on what type of gardening you want to do, prepare your spot and soil for planting. You must remove all weeds, grass, stones, etc using various gardening supplies or herbicides. When this is completed, you can plow the planting area and add nutrients such as manure, compost, peat or sand to the soil. If your soil is too sandy, you will need to add compost to give it the necessary nutrients it needs. Gardening supplies are essential for good gardening. They make gardening easy, and there are certain gardening supplies that gardeners find indispensable, including gloves, spade, scissors, pruners, levelers etc. Make sure to buy good quality gardening supplies for ease of use, such as gardening gloves made of high quality leather, and gardening spades or pruners made of stainless steel. Drug Side Effects: Combivent Dangerous - You Bet It Is

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Tim_Carr] Tim Carr Drugs have side effects. Period. So does Combivent, a drug that I use. Is Combivent dangerous? I think it is. First, I need to give a little history here, and then we can talk shop. In 2000, I moved home with my mom to begin assisting her with her care because she had developed cancer. Her ordeal was terrible, and primarily it was because in addition to the effects of the cancer itself, the drugs therapies she was on were horrendously brutal on her health and constitution. One of the drugs she used to combat her lung cancer was something called Combivent. I had been using Albuteral since the early 90’s to help manage some of the symptoms that come with having Cystic Fibrosis. My doctor prescribed it as a quick fix for times when allergies made my chest tight, or when I felt particularly congested… Well, when I moved in with my mom I eventually became curious about her inhaler. I asked my doctor if I might try the use of Combivent every so often, and when I tried it I liked it. It had a two-pronged benefit of both opening my lungs and reducing inflammation. For some reason, it helped me clear more congestion more easily. So, I began to use it as a replacement for Albuterol. It should be noted that Combivent (a play on the word “combine” perhaps?) is a combination of Albuterol and a steroid known as Ipratropium. My problem with all drugs, and Combivent in particular, is that all drugs have side effects. Doctors play them down, but I am here to tell you that you CANNOT and MUST NOT minimize the importance of these side effects. Read up on Combivent. You will see what I am talking about. Do your own research. Combivent can be fatal if you overdose on it! At the very least it can cause adverse reactions that you need to be aware of. In fact, I believe that I have systematically been OD’ing on it since 2000. The way in which an overdose takes place is simple, especially when you consider the symptoms that Combivent can create. If you do you research you will see that Combivent can cause increased congestion and shortness of breath as a side effect. So, with that as a side effect, and given the nature of CF itself, a vicious cycle can begin whereby a person can accidentally OD on Combivent. Let’s say you take two hits on the drug. Initially you get relief of your symptoms. It really helps open your airways, right? You feel better, right? But in a few minutes you notice you are coughing more. You think to yourself, “OK, I have CF, coughing is what I do. Maybe the Combivent just loosened up something.” Well, maybe. And maybe not. It could also be that you may be having a reaction to the drug. In another hour, your chest feels tighter. So, you take another hit. You don’t get the relief you got earlier, so you take one more just to be on the safe side. It helps some, but in 30 minutes you are coughing more, you fell poorly and your lungs begin to hurt. So, you take one more hit. Next thing you know, you have full blown symptoms that look like pneumonia for Pete’s Sake! And if you are lucky, that’s all that will happen, but it can get MUCH worse. I have OD’ed on Combivent several times in my life without realizing what was happening. The most recent time was 3 days ago, Monday this past. Since I had just gotten over what my doctor thought was pneumonia (and he could have been right, but who knows for sure, because I may have been having a reaction to too much Combivent), I assumed that the pneumonia was coming back, even though the Ciprofloxacin he had given me had taken care of it. My lungs were hurting as they had been before. I took another hit on my Combivent and the symptoms worsened and it was then that I began to think I was hurting myself with the drug. I had used it several times that morning, to deal with symptoms that got increasingly worse as time passed. So, even though I was unable to breath, I stopped the Combivent. Within an hour, my lungs had returned to normal and I was feeling fine, but after an ordeal that lasted nearly 3 hours, I had had an epiphany of sorts. Combivent is not necessarily a good thing. It can even create the very symptoms it is formulated to alleviate. Since then, I have made sure that at least 4-5 hours pass between doses, and I feel good. I am less congested and for the time being I am breathing better. My who point is that drugs do not always help us. Few drugs, if any, come without a price in the form of side effects. Do your research on your drugs. Always consider the risks of using a drug vs. the risks of not using it. Pay close attention to your doses. Monitor how you feel. And discontinue the use of a drug if it makes you feel worse. Even something as seemingly harmless as an inhaler can be dangerous. Payday Cash Loan - For Those Who Are Credit Challenged

Sunday, October 21st, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Connie_Barker]Connie Barker Need cash fast? Try a payday cash loan. This just could be your answer to your temporary cash problem. Payday cash loans began appearing on the World Wide Web in the 1990s. They were touted as a way to get quick, easy cash without having to worry about qualifying. This is especially handy for people who are credit challenged and have issues getting loans anywhere else. Everything to obtain a payday cash loan online can be done online without having to worry about paperwork to fax in or e-mail. Payday cash loans are a fairly new type on loan. These loans are loans that are made quickly and easily but have to be repaid on the next payday.
