Top Weight Loss Program Reviews

Monday, December 31st, 2007

By Tim Shank So you think you are ready to start losing weight but you aren’t sure which weight loss program you should go with? I can imagine that it must be difficult, there are so many different programs to choose from. It is for that reason that we have decided to give you some of the top weight loss program reviews so you can make a better choice. 1. Group Weight Loss - There are many different weight loss programs that fall in this category so we decided to lump them all together. These would include programs like Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig. Many of these programs are done in a group environment and either have their own lines of food or recommended systems of eating, like the Weight Watchers Points Program. These types of weight loss systems can work well but they require a long term commitment. I have known people that have failed and people that have succeeded with these kinds of programs with equal effort. 2. Low Carb - There are several programs that fall under this category, the most well known being Atkins. This type of program works great for weight loss, if only for the short term. I know a lot of people who lost a lot of weight on Atkins, myself included, only to return to their normal way of eating and gain the weight again. 3. Gain Muscle, Lose Fat - This, in my opinion is the real way to go for lasting weight loss. By adding muscle to your body you will look better, feel better and boost your metabolism so that you are burning fat on a continuous basis. Gaining muscle and losing fat go hand in hand. I think that you will be pleasantly surprised with how quickly the fat really begins to disappear. Of course the added muscle with just help to make you look better faster. We have a special report on how you can build muscle while losing body fat at our website along with some great free fat loss tips and inspirational success stories. Marriage - The First Year

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

By Michael Russell Ah yes. The first year of marriage. The year when your eyes are all lit up with joy and the anticipation of the bliss that is to come. It’s the time when you’re supposed to make love nightly and fall into each other’s arms at every opportunity. It is also the year when you find out that your spouse snores and leaves the toothpaste tube uncovered. The honeymoon is over. The truth is, the first year of a marriage can be a very difficult one. Unless you lived with your spouse prior to this, you really have no idea what he or she is going to be like to live with on a daily basis. We certainly have no idea of whether or not our spouse snores. And boy, can THAT be a real wake up call. What do you do? You just got married. The last thing you want to do is start off your marriage with a jab to the ribs of your spouse and a bellowing command to turn over. So you try to deal with it for a few nights. But eventually seven nights of no sleep catches up to you and you snap. And that toothpaste thing. Don’t laugh. People have their funny little quirks. And leaving the tube off the toothpaste is just one of them. Not putting down the toilet seat is another one guys. That’s right, you better start thinking of other people in the house besides yourself. Those jokes you see about this on Comedy Central are there because they’re true. And you women. Here’s where you can be the worst cook in the world and get away with it, at least for a while anyway. Most likely the first meal you cook for your husband isn’t going to be greeted with a comment of “that’s horrible” even if it is something that you wouldn’t feed to your worst enemy. But eventually a time is going to come when your husband is going to bring home a cookbook for you to read and demand that you do so immediately. Of course not everything about the first year of marriage is hard. Some of it is very nice. Let’s face it, the first year of marital relations can be very exciting. You’re just getting to know each other in that area and everything is new. You actually look forward to being with each other late at night before bed. In this respect, the first year of marriage is like no other. But more importantly, the first year of marriage is a time when you’re supposed to get to know each other as people. While you were dating, you tried to always show yourself off in the best light. Now, your partner is going to see you on your good days and bad days. When you got sick and used to just stay home and not see each other it was okay to get sick. Now, your spouse is going to see you hacking and wheezing and pretty much on death’s door when that flu hits. The glamour is gone. Now the real love and commitment starts. It can be scary to have to care for someone who looks like he or she is ready to cash in his chips. Well, don’t worry about it. The second year it gets easier. Planning a Wedding Abroad - How to Get Started

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

By Natalie Wingrove You have made the decision; you are going to get married abroad! Its all very exciting, the world is your oyster, but what do you do now? How do you start planning your wedding abroad? There are a number of factors you need to take into consideration before you begin planning your wedding abroad. The most important being why you have chosen to get married abroad and not at home. What are the main factors motivating your decision, for example, is it to save money, time, or eliminate stress? Or do you simply want to put your personal stamp on the occasion? Once youve established this turn your thoughts to the type and style of wedding you would like and how much involvement you would like to have in its planning. Would you like a small intimate affair or a grand occasion? Do you want it to be traditional or adventurous? Your answers to these questions will have a bearing on how you should plan your wedding abroad and whether you should use a Tour Operator, Wedding Planner or plan your wedding yourself. Each option caters for subtly different wants and needs and has both its advantages and disadvantages. If you are planning to have a small wedding abroad and do not want to spend your time worrying about the little details that go hand in hand with planning a wedding at home, and value for money and keeping costs low is one of your main priorities, then using a Tour Operator may be the perfect choice for you. If you would like to have a unique wedding abroad that reflects your individual style and personality or be involved in the decision making processes but not the hands on planning then using a Wedding Planner may be your best option. Alternatively if you think you would enjoy the challenge of planning a wedding in a foreign country or break into a cold sweat at the mere thought of handing the responsibility over to someone else, then planning your own wedding abroad could be your perfect choice. Many couples have successfully planned their own wedding abroad and it is not as daunting as it may first seem. Once you have decided which option you wish to pursue be sure to investigate a good selection of providers. Properly researching the options and services available to you will provide you comfort in the knowledge that you have chosen the right partner or partners to work with, after all it is your wedding day and you shouldnt settle for second best. With careful research and planning you will be able to plan a wedding that is unique, a wedding that is distinctive, a wedding that surpasses all your expectations and is the talk of the town for years to come. Natalie Wingrove successfully planned her own wedding abroad. In order to share her experiences and offer valuable advice, hints & tips on getting married abroad she has created the website http://www.weddings-abroad-guide.com/. Christians Wake Up and Change the World

Friday, December 28th, 2007

By Warren Adams Jesus told his disciples they were to be the salt of the earth, to preserve and keep it in the correct order. He goes on to say that if the salt has lost its savor it can not do what it is supposed to do. Christians need to wake up and begin to be that salt. Why do we see such junk on television and in the movies? Why do we hear words that are rude, immoral, blasphemous, and not fit for use in music, television and movies? Why are there so much poverty, homelessness and suffering in world? Why cant we pray in schools? Why are we killing thousands of innocent babies each year? Why is so much money being spent on lottery tickets? It is because Christians and the Church have lost their direction and Gods mandate. We claim to be a Christian nation. If you ask most Americans if they are Christian they will say yes. If that is true then our society should have a whole different complexion. The truth is if they are Christian they are not living their life according to Gods word. If we were the Hollywood crowd would either change the movies or go broke. Lotteries would not exist. People would be fed and housed. When you look at the early church they took care of the needs of each other. They sent out missionaries to tell others about Jesus. They were the salt and light of the earth. They lived and taught the word of God. They changed this world forever by following Jesus commands. What happened? Christians have fallen asleep and need a wake up call. We are warned to redeem the time. Jesus could return at any time. He certainly will not find many Christians about his business when he does. How would the world you live in be like if every Christian was just like you? Do you live your life by Spiritual guidelines or by the world standards? Have you compromised with the world without even realizing it? Stop and take a look at your life. How important is it to you to know and live the life God wants you to? Where are you in your growth to be like Jesus? Do you give any time to the study of Gods word? Let us wake up and begin to be the salt we are supposed to be. Let us make a change in the world. Let us hear Jesus say well done good and faithful servant when he returns. Are you doing all you can do? Use what God has blessed you with to grow spiritually and financially to meet the needs of others.Preparing for the soon return of the Lord Jesus Christ as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Spring Forage

Friday, December 28th, 2007

By Cherie Davidson Thankfully, winter does not last forever! In the spring there is no more temptation to dip into the white flour canister and whip up biscuits and gravy or grandma’s banana bread. Ah, as the daylight hours grow longer, we lose the urge to rummage through the fridge for high carb “no-no’s.” With the onset of spring, thick, sweet, hot, heavy, bloating, high glycemic platters of food suddenly have no appeal! And, to coin a phrase borrowed from a popular shark film, “just as you thought it was safe to go back on your diet…” here comes spring! The fabled season of birth and renewal, of life, regeneration, energy and love has a down side for some. Everything smells fresh and sweet; tender green grass, fragrant new flower buds, spring rain carried along on gentle breezes. We start moving again, we are out sneezing from allergies, hustling and bustling. We use more energy and our schedules pick up in intensity. Life in general increases…and so do our appetites. Now, instead of wanting comfort foods on a dark, cold day, we need an “energy snack” while we are on the run. We expel more energy than we have for the past two or three months and our “snack” triggers are activated. After all, we are creatures of nature and we respond to the seasonal cycles. We are instinctively following nature’s urges to forage through the season’s fresh and plentiful bounty. Like the bear, we want to hunt out snacks after winter’s hibernation. Like the cattle and hooved creatures of the field and plains, we seek energy through munching, nibbling, grazing and, yes, foraging. However, as low carbers, we are in a terrific position…this negative cycle for high carbers is actually a positive for us! Eating the high carb way is a major disadvantage during spring because they reach for unhealthy, carb-laden foods. Although we must be mindful of where we forage and graze, low carbers have a distinct advantage over those who eat the “old” way. Yes, a distinct advantage indeed! As long as we watch our meal portions, and only snack when we are truly hungry or “empty,” then spring is our smorgasboard. Graze through the fresh salad greens and tender dark green veggies, root through the nuts and berries, forage for pork rinds, bacon bits and a myriad of cheeses, and rejoice in the low-carb lifestyle we have chosen! Spring symbolizes renewal and vitality…so enjoy renewing your fridge’s crisper bin, meat tray, and pantry. Feel the vitality of the low carb way of life, and eat guilt-free. Forage to your heart’s content–literally. Cherie Davidson is a freelance writer and Web content developer who lives in the Pacific Northwest with her toy poodle, Auggie Dog, her energy muse. Weight Loss Pill - Is It Really Working?

Thursday, December 27th, 2007

By Carmen Luna What is this weight loss pill? The pill or tablet that helps in weight loss especially if one is obese or over weight is called as weight loss pill. Is it really worthwhile to use weight loss pill? Is there any side effects or how safe the weight loss pills are? These are the questions that crop in one’s mind, the moment they hear about weight loss pill. It is so natural is it not? Weight loss pills are there in the existence and are slowly gaining popularity as the manufacturers promise quick weight loss. For some people weight loss pills are really tempting as they may feel the diet, exercise and both are difficult to follow. Dear viewer, you might have heard about the weight loss pills either through your buddy or through a tempting commercial ad. But before attempting to buy, better be aware that most of these products are fraudulent. They neither help to reduce the weight nor do any benefits to the body but can be dangerous and harmful at times. Here is the statistical information to prove the veracity of the weight loss pill. As per Lisa colles, a researcher in America, the Americans spend nearly fifty billion dollars per year for weight loss programs, weight loss pills, and products. In this almost six billion dollars are spent on nonsense and fraudulent weight loss pills and products. There are different types of weight loss pills. They are prescription weight loss pills and over the counter weight loss pills. Prescription weight loss pills are nothing but diet drugs. These pills are of curse approved by food and drug administrative agency after studying the possible side effects and positive effects on the body of the individual. Prescription weight loss pills are best suited for the people who are obese. The doctors advise the obese people whose body mass index are over 35. These prescription weight loss pills are certainly a cosmetic solution to obesity hence obese people are advised to continue weight loss diet and exercise in addition to weight loss pills. Over the counter weight loss pills industry is without doubt fast growing industry owing the growing demand for these weight loss pills. These pills are in general considered as food supplement rather than weight loss drugs. Though this type of weight loss pills are not properly tested by federal agencies and are sold in the market without proper labeling advice and dosage details, the sales are improving day by day. There is no evidence that those people, who have not lost weight while they are on conventional weight loss plan such as diet and exercise, have lost weight using weight loss pills. Hence it is better to try natural way of loosing weight instead of this weight loss pills as there is a general feeling that these weight loss pills are harmful to the body in a one way or the other. There is no strong evidence that suggest weight loss pills are producing faster results either. Screen Printing - Exposure Time For Photo Emulsion Coated Screens

Tuesday, December 25th, 2007

By Robert Jacob Exposing a screen printing screen is like exposing a photograph. For the best results, you need to expose it for the optimum amount of time. If you expose it a little less, or a little more, you will still probably be okay. But the farther you get away from the optimum time, the more your results will suffer. The variables for figuring out the correct time are brightness of the light source, and distance from the screen. You need to decide on a light source. I currently use a 250 watt halogen work light with the UV filter glass, and safety cage removed (you assume all risks if you remove your glass and/or cage from your halogen light). In the past, I have used a 75 watt incandescent bulb in a reflector with a clamp. Whatever you use, make sure you have some way of clamping it, or mounting it above the frame for an extended period of time. You need to place the light far enough away from the screen, so that the whole screen is being equally lighted. If the center of the screen is significantly brighter then the corners, than the light is too close. The bigger the screen, the farther you are likely to have to place the light source. The farther away the light source is, the longer the exposure time will be. Measure the distances, and record it, so you will be able reproduce the results in the future. Now you are ready to run a test to find the best exposure time. Here are some base times to start with (based on a 150 clear incandescent bulb): 12 inches above the screen, 45 minutes 15 inches above the screen, 74 minutes 17 inches above the screen, 92 minutes The higher the bulb is above the screen, the longer the exposure needs to be. If the wattage of the bulb is lower, you need to lengthen the exposure time. If the wattage is higher, then you need to shorten the exposure time. If you use a different kind of bulb, the time may vary. Here is how to test for the best exposure time:Coat a screen with photo emulsion the usual way. Print a transparency with numbers from 10 to 90 in increments of 5. If you are using a low wattage bulb, you should use higher numbers in increments of 10. With the light set up, place the coated screen under the light to be exposed. Use a clock or stop watch to keep track of the time. After 5 minutes, cover the 5 with an opaque piece of paper or cardboard. After 10 minutes, cover the 10. Do this until all of the numbers are covered. Then wash out the screen. The lowest numbers that are distinct on the screen will give you the optimum exposure time. Rob Jacob has years of screen printing experience. Provacative Research Works

Monday, December 24th, 2007

By Henry DeVries If you want to double your business, then you need to get inside your client’s head through proprietary research and provocative results. By conducting proprietary research, you obtain special information that prospective clients can’t find elsewhere. The foundation of client seduction is to give away useful information that demonstrates to clients you have the expertise to help them. Giving away general problem-solving information is good, but it is not good enough. You need to offer specifics, and the more provocatively you can package the results, the better. Professionals, consultants and technology entrepreneurs can use proprietary research to obtain clients, even during tough economic times. A recent case in point is Enterpulse, an Atlanta-based Web services firm that designs and builds corporate Web sites. Projects can be extremely complex, encompassing both the external and internal Web presence of a company and serving an intricate network of customers, employees and suppliers. According to Enterpulse, 2002 was a “now or never” year as the deepening technology recession further eroded sales and prospects. Many of the firm’s larger and better-known competitors had gone bankrupt in the previous 12 months. Enterpulse, a midsized firm, actually viewed this as an opportunity to become a bigger player and gain market share in its category. But the company needed to make a bold move to raise its visibility, boost sales and leave its few remaining competitors behind. To overcome the challenges in communicating with Enterpulse’s audiences, the firm commissioned a proprietary research study through Ketchum Public Relations of heavy business Internet users. The survey results would be useful to interest the media in a new story angle on the Internet, and also to give executive information technology decision-makers compelling data for evaluating their companies’ Web presence from a user perspective. The result was 265 qualified U.S. leads for the sales force to pursue, with three of these leads quickly converting to signed contracts. The entire budget was $100,000, including $25,000 in out-of-pocket expenses. With an average engagement of $250,000 per client, this means a return on investment of at least 650 percent. Internet death penalty How did they do it? Enterpulse had to overcome two pivotal challenges in communicating with prospective customers: Reporters Ketchum talked with were not particularly interested in writing about the Internet anymore — unless the reporter could unearth a new angle and back it up with examples. Making the case for a user-centric Web experience would require strong evidence to convince an analytical, data-oriented audience of IT decision-makers. Ketchum Research developed and conducted a survey of more than 300 heavy Internet users in the fields of IT, sales/marketing, purchasing and human resources. The proprietary research results revealed that users overwhelmingly expect Web sites to be user-friendly or they won’t return. Enterpulse and Ketchum called this end result the “Internet Death Penalty” and showcased the phrase in press materials and media outreach to attract maximum attention. If you want attention, you need to be provocative. How to publicize results But being provocative is only the first step. You also need to be proactive in spreading the results of the research. Ketchum helped Enterpulse CEO Michael Reene write a provocative white paper to alert companies to the fact that they should evaluate their Web presence from a user perspective, or else risk alienating customers. The white paper was featured on the home page of Enterpulse’s Web site, www.Enterpulse.com. The firm traded the white paper for e-mail addresses and required interested persons wishing to download a free copy to first input their contact information into an online form. Enterpulse hired Ketchum to conduct a 30-day media relations campaign. The news release was issued via Business Wire and Internet Wire. Ketchum also contacted national business media, the top 100 daily newspapers, and key trade media in the IT, banking and retail vertical markets. Reporters were provided with a link to the white paper for further information and also offered a detailed analysis of the survey results. Media interviews were conducted with Reene, who used real-world examples of Web sites relevant to the survey results to support the white paper’s premise. A bylined article (based on the news release) was written and placed in several IT-oriented publications. Media coverage for the survey clearly convinced information technology decision-makers to take a closer look at Enterpulse’s thesis — as evidenced by more than 1,000 downloads of the white paper on the Enterpulse Web site by high-profile organizations such as Disney, American Airlines, Princeton University, Hallmark and Panasonic. To date, 18 daily newspapers, 60 metro business journals, 20 industry/IT trade publications and four radio spots have featured Enterpulse’s findings. Coverage highlights include USA Today, Newsbytes, CNET, InfoWorld, 60-plus metro business weeklies around the country and Stores Magazine. The campaign appears to be spreading virally over time, with additional daily newspapers, Web sites and other outlets continuing to pick up the survey results from the original wire story and from publications that featured the story. Always keep in mind that the information a potential client most wants to know is: “How does my company compare to others?” There is a hidden fear in the back of every executive’s mind that some critical piece of business intelligence is missing. Nobody wants to be behind the learning curve, especially in today’s rapidly changing business environment. Building Strong Relationships With Youth

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

By Josh Goh The Most Important Thing No matter what your youth program is doing, how youre engaging youth or what your youth development model and plan are, there is one thing that will make or break your program. If you want to make a difference in the lives of youth, it all starts from the foundation of a strong friendship. This is key. Youth dont care what you know until they know that you care. Youth dont care about your qualifications, how snazzy your dressing is, how knowledgeable you are about the issues theyre facing, how funny your jokes are, how interesting your third nipple is (well maybe). The fact is, even if you think youre the most uncool, lame, boring youth worker, if you have a heart for youth and genuinely care for them, thats going to outshine everything else youre doing in your program. Remember that youth are people and if you really want to impact them, you have to focus on people above programs. Dont ever forget: youth dont care what you know until they know that you care. Starting your youth program from that foundation will revolutionize the way you think, the way you talk to and the way you work with youth. More is Caught than Taught Many people who work with youth make the mistake of starting out the relationship with their youth with the motive of wanting them to change for the better. Sadly, what happens is they end up feeling guilty or less worthy and inevitably, the relationship breaks down. Rather, start the relationship with your youth out with the motive of wanting to be a supportive friend, giving them room to grow and develop. Let your own life and values speak louder than your words. Dont preach or enforce your value system onto the youth, rather, be a role model and lead by example. Then youll start to see real change and have a lasting impact in their lives. More is caught than taught. You may ask, Josh, then what do we DO? Theres got to be some curriculum or lesson plan or some tools we can use to build character. Youth will grow depending on their environment. Its like putting fertilizer in a plant in a musty apartment with hardly any sunlight and using the best fertilizer as opposed to placing it in good sunlight ample ventilation with no fertilizer. Your curriculum is like the fertilizer. Granted, you may have the best curriculum or tool kit in the world, but without the relationship and the love, its unlikely youll expect growth. On the flip side, if you have a great relationship with your youth, given time, theres no question youll see growth. Sure, curriculums and tools and great lessons can help the growth but they dont mean squat without the relationship. Key learning point: more is caught than taught. Spending Time So how do you show that you love and care for this younger person you hope to impact? Theres got to be something practical and concrete you can do. Simply put, youth spell L-O-V-E as T-I-M-E. The time you take, the special moments you share, all that hanging out with them speaks volumes. They are not looking for another parent or another teacher, theyre looking for friends, someone they can talk to, someone they can trust, someone to just be there. We will continue this series with our next step to Building a Strong Relationship With Youth with some simple things you can do with youth. Key Learning Points: Youth dont care what you know until they know that you care. More is caught than taught Youth spell L-O-V-E as T-I-M-E Joshua has more than 10 years of experience working with youths and currently works for PromiseWorks as their Head of Mentorship and co-created an online resource site, http://www.YouthDevelopmentResources.com. He has a unique perspective from that of a young person who is both a protg in a mentoring relationship and also responsible for promoting mentoring for PromiseWorks. His primary passion in life is to create awareness about mentoring within Singapore, develop mentorship programs including content development, working with mentors as volunteers, and ensuring that PromiseWorkss mentoring program remains relevant to youth in Singapore. Realizing he was spending more time searching for or developing effective youth resources than he was spending time with the youth, he and his mentor Ken Sapp co-created Youth Development Resources, http://www.YouthDevelopmentResources.com to cater to this need.
